Course Overview: 

Over 30,000 people take a NEBOSH qualification every year. The qualifications are globally recognised and taken by people working in all types of industries, as well as national and local government organisations.

This Level 3 course is designed to provide a sound foundation in environmental management. It is suitable for managers, supervisors and employees based in the UK, who have responsibility for managing environment issues, as part of their day to day duties. It is also suitable for environmental practitioners who wish to formalise their experience and progress their career with a formal qualification.

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management will benefit learners who are seeking to gain a formal qualification in Environmental Management. It will allow the learner to understand the principles of managing environmental risk and implement effective environmental management systems in the workplace.

Entry Requirements: 

We would require a pre-course interview to discuss the course and to establish that this level is suitable for the candidate.

No previous knowledge of environmental management is required, but candidates should note that the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report and sit a written examination.

Unit 1 EC1: Management and control of environmental hazards

  • Element 1 - Foundations in environmental management
  • Element 2 - Environmental management systems
  • Element 3 - Environmental impact assessment
  • Element 4 - Control of emissions to air
  • Element 5 - Control of contamination of water sources
  • Element 6 - Control of  waste and land use
  • Element 7 - Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Element 8 - Control of environmental noise
  • Element 9 - Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

Unit 2
Practical application and report

2 hour external exam for unit 1

We understand the importance of flexibility in our approach to training and so deliver NEBOSH courses in a number of ways

  • Day release – one day per week taught study, for the duration of the course plus an additional revision day.

A certificate award parchment is issued by NEBOSH on successful completion of all course units.
