Course Overview: 

100% SFI funded - subject to eligibility
This course covers all the main skills required to install, fault find and inspect and test electric vehicle charging points. This is a new sector where electricians can train to become a specialist installer. Given the high prices of petrol and diesel, more people are turning to electric vehicles.
Course Overview
This course is designed for experienced electricians and installers who are looking to enhance their current skill and knowledge to allow them to install domestic, commercial and “on street” vehicle charging points

Entry Requirements: 

All candidates must have passed an Inspection & Testing course. A copy of your certificate must be supplied prior to you being accepted on the course.

Candidates must have a full working knowledge of the following requirements:
Be able to correctly install and terminate pvc/pvc cable (twin and earth) and
Steel Wire armoured cable (swa)
Know the different earthing installation requirements i.e. TT, TNS, TNCS
Be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork. Note: These competencies are required for the assessment and are not taught as part of the course.
It is expected that candidates possess relevant trade qualification and/or have a working knowledge of the electrical industry. Each application is considered on individual merit; however formal qualifications may not be required dependant on experience.

Course Structure
This is a 1 day course consisting of classroom instruction, a practical examination and a 1 hour open book examination
Course Materials
On attendance of the course, you will need to bring the following:

•    IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installations+ (4th Edition)
    Your own test equipment and in date calibration certificate (we can provide test equipment if required)
