Business Improvement Techniques - Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships
Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) apprenticeships are available at Levels 2 and 3, and allow candidates to develop the skills and knowledge needed to create new business solutions for an organisation. Candidates will study a variety of Lean concepts, with the aim of improving a business' performance.
Level 2 is suitable for those looking to work within an improvement, whilst Level 3 is suitable for those looking to lead an improvement team. The apprenticeships are delivered as stand-alone qualifications that can be fully-funded by the Welsh Government, and can be used to upskill existing or new staff.
Apprentices will study five mandatory units on the Level 2 apprenticeship:
- Safe working
- Effective team working
- Visual management systems
- Workplace organisation (5S)
- Continuous improvement (Kaizen)
Apprentices will also study a selection of optional units on the Level 2, including:
- Flow process analysis
- Problem solving
Apprentices will study five mandatory units on the Level 3 apprenticeship:
- Safe working
- Leading effective teams
- Visual management systems
- Workplace organisation (5S)
- Continuous improvement (Kaizen)
Apprentices will also study a selection of optional units on the Level 3, including:
- Flow process analysis
- Problem solving
- Creating standard operating procedures (SOP)
We would require a pre-course meeting with you and your employer to discuss the course and to establish that this level and course content is suitable.
Candidates will be allocated a dedicated tutor/assessor, who will work closely with both learners and employers to ensure the level and units selected meet the needs of the learner and organisational priorities. The tutor/assessor will meet with the learners every 4-6 weeks to assess progress and set objectives for the next period.
The learners will be expected to attend interactive workshops, which will focus on the knowledge element of the qualification and support in developing understanding and skills. The learners will also be assigned project work set to their elected units, and create a project portfolio to demonstrate application of their new skills.
Delivery of the apprenticeships can be remote or in-person.
